On 22 May 2025, the European Patent Office’s Board of Appeal issued a final decision, upholding European patent claims covering kp’s Elite® TCEP-endorsed sealable tray technology. This ruling confirms the innovative nature of kp’s Elite® technology and its contribution to sustainability.

kp Elite® is an advanced modified atmosphere packaging sealable tray, made with up to 100% recycled post-consumer PET and designed for recycling. Endorsed by TCEP (Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform) of Petcore Europe and certified by RecyClass, kp Elite® has led the way in the industry since its launch in 2010.

The Board of Appeal’s decision confirms the validity of kp’s IP rights covering Elite technology and ensures that kp Elite®’s patent cannot be challenged further at the European Patent Office.
